Our Programs XMAThis program is for children and adults who want to learn to fly - literally!
XMA
Champions curriculum - We are proud to be a member school of the elite organization, XMA Revolution® (www.xmarevolution.com), teaching the
hottest style in the world of martial arts. Students learn gymnastic and acrobatic techniques to take their basic repertoire to a new level. This is highly individualized program, and each student is encouraged to develop his or her strongest skills, while continuing to try new things.
Just because we are teaching new skills does not mean we forget about the basics! XMA students follow our belt-ranked progressive program. They are required to develop a strong set of core martial arts techniques, including sparring, forms, self defense and weapons training. Physical fitness and the development of leadership skills are also stressed, as self-confident leaders are better prepared for the challenges of the teenage years and beyond.
Little Champions curriculum -Special classes are available for preschool children aged 2 1/2 to 5 years old. While they start learning XMA skills, classes are geared for their attention spans, with an emphasis on having fun. We use a special belt-ranked curriculum that focuses on improving basic motor control and listening ability. Children also develop their social skills, learning confidence, respect, safety and self-discipline as they work out with their classmates and instructors. When they graduate from this program, our youngest students are well prepared to move into the XMA program.
Competition/Demonstration team - Qualified students may be invited to join members of either team as they represent Xcalibur Martial Arts in local, state and national tournaments and other special events. Team members attend additional training sessions focusing specifically on preparing for competitions. Competition is not required of any student, but most find that it is a rewarding challenge that helps improve self-confidence. The team develops strong camaraderie, and students help each other to train and excel. They learn to channel their energies, ignore distractions, and focus, useful skills for life beyond the martial arts!
Xtreme Weapons training- Weapons are an integral and important part of our style and curriculum. In most traditional martial arts styles, learning weapons is reserved until after the student has reached the black-belt level of mastery. In XMA, we introduce weapons early, along with empty-hand techniques. Under appropriate supervision (and safety is always our #1 consideration) weapons training improves the learning of all other techniques. Besides, it's fun!
For those interested in traditional weapons, we also teach sai, escrima, Tai Chi fans and both Wushu and Japanese long weapons.
Private ClassesPrivate classes are available by arrangement with our instructors for any student who desires an intense, focused personal training session. American Kickboxing/ Aerobic KickboxingThis program is for adults and older children. It is a
high-energy fitness program that combines non-contact floor
work and bag training. Students learn a variety of punches
and kicks, and use them in combinations in fast-paced
classes designed to make the sweat flow! Although this class
does not involve person-to-person contact, the skills taught
are real martial arts, and could be used in self-defense
situations. We teach genuine kickboxing; you’re just using a
bag instead of a partner. Some of our students combine this
class with one of our other martial arts programs. No prior
experience is required; just come prepared to work hard and
have a good time! Taiji QuanMr. Felix Smittick teaches classes in this ancient Chinese art. The study of Taiji has many health benefits, including increased flexibility, improved balance and coordination, better concentration skills, and a sense of relaxation. Classes begin with basic movements and forms, and students advance at their own pace. Advanced training and preparation for competition is also available. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)Mixed martial arts, combining elements from stand-up fighting with ground fighting, takedowns, submission and grappling, is
a popular new area in martial training. We are excited about the role of MMA
in martial arts, and we are please to offer this program to
adults and teens. |
